Head of Workforce Strategy, Ageing Australia
Andrew Hayward has joined Ageing Australia as the Head of Workforce Strategy, bringing over 12 years of expertise in health workforce management, with a special focus on remote and rural health.
Professional Experience
Before his current role, Andrew served as the National Rural Faculty Manager for the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) since May 2022. In this position, he was responsible for advocating, educating, and engaging with over 24,000 members. Andrew led the RACGP rural team to prioritise activities that developed and delivered initiatives aimed at engaging members and sustaining a remote, rural, and regional General Practice workforce throughout Australia.
Andrew also held a significant leadership position with the Rural Workforce Agency, Health Workforce Queensland, where he managed the John Flynn Placement Program (JFPP). He conceptualised and developed the GROW Rural health student immersion program, which has successfully expanded across three regions in Queensland. His role included extensive stakeholder engagement and community development activities on a national scale and within Queensland.
Education and Qualifications
Andrew holds tertiary qualifications in Business Administration from Griffith University and Health Planning and Evaluation from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Additionally, he is an Adjunct Lecturer at James Cook University (JCU).
