Anita is a leading lawyer in aged care who focuses on delivering quality and practical advice to her clients. She assists aged care providers in both home care and residential care to comply with their responsibilities under the Aged Care Act 1997 and its Principles including the Aged Care Quality Standards as well as other relevant laws.

Anita Courtney is a principal in Russell Kennedy’s Aged Care team with a focus on the Support at Home sector. She specialises in helping home care providers comply with their legal responsibilities under the Aged Care Act and its principles as well as privacy legislation and other laws. She also assists providers in managing complaints, debt recover issues and helps them to in understanding their duty of care and dignity of risk issues. Anita helps providers respond to, and challenge decisions of the aged care regulators including the Department of Health and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission and represents aged care providers in guardianship and administration proceedings in Victoria and other states.

Anita has been recognised as a Leading Health & Aged Care Lawyer in Victoria in the 2025 Doyle’s Guide listing. She was also named the Melbourne Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law “Lawyer of the Year” in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers in Australia, and has been consistently recognised by Best Lawyers for her expertise in Health & Aged Care Law since 2020.
