Refining the standards — Ideas that support sustainability in financial regulation.
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has the right to oversee the financial viability of aged care providers in order to safeguard those in care. The implementation of more robust standards can assist that objective, however the intended and unintended consequences need to be well thought through to ensure providers remain viable and consumers receive the quality of care they deserve.
Our report considers the financial implications on aged care providers and how the proposed standards can assist providers in becoming more financially adroit. The report addresses some of the matters that providers will need to manage under them, including the impacts on investments and relationship with lenders.

This panel will explore the intersection of the legal complexities introduced by recent legislative changes, the banking sector’s perspective on risk and investment in new developments, and the accounting considerations that shape operators’ willingness to invest to offer solutions to how the industry kickstart developments while balancing stringent legal requirements, complex financing arrangements, and the economic realities faced by operators. Experts will debate the reforms’ intended and unintended consequences, and outline ways governments, financiers, and providers can collaborate to meet the needs of an aging nation.
