A/Prof Eskander is a transformative healthcare leader with over 15 years of international executive experience. Serving as the Executive Director Clinical Transformation & Performance at the Department of Health and accountable directly to the Director General, he has spearheaded initiatives that have transformed organisations across Western Australia.
George’s contributions extend as the former North Metropolitan Health Service Executive Area Director Clinical Services, nationally as a former Board member of the WA Medical Board of Australia and as an expert for bodies such as the Care Quality Commission and General Medical Council. An Associate Professor at Curtin University and a former Chief Examiner at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, he serves as a Senior Medical Assessor to the Australian Council for Healthcare Standards (ACHS), as a Non-Executive Director on multiple boards, and as a Specialist Proceduralist General Practitioner.
His leadership has been recognised through multiple awards and accolades, including most recently as the Institute of Public Administration WA Winner for ‘Best Practice in Health and Wellbeing’.
George is an avid long-distance runner, having completed a marathon dressed as a giant gingerbread man. He is also a keen martial arts student and is involved actively in the community as a volunteer surf life rescue club age coach.
