Jeanette Walters

Jeanette Walters is the Executive Director of Integrated Care Systems in SA government leading strategic planning, system redesign and key statewide reform projects to deliver new approaches to delivering care closer to home. This work includes the development of urgent care models to reduce demand on Emergency Departments, discharge support and transitional accommodation programs and hospital substitution models that reduce demand on hospital inpatient beds. Jeanette also holds key portfolios related to the interface with aged care and disability, supporting individual patient journeys, service development and system improvements. She is the South Australian lead for the National Senior Officers Working Group related to Aged Care and Discharge Delayed Older Persons initiatives.

Over her career Jeanette has worked as a clinician, in the public, private and university sectors, in SA, NSW and England; led the development of social policy and programs related to ageing that address the needs and wants of older South Australians and engaged them actively in that process; and supported Intergovernment relations and negotiations in health.

Jeanette’s operational and policy understanding and significant experience in hospitals, health, aged care and disability support has enabled her to develop productive relationships across sectors and build innovative, evidence informed care that delivers improved health experiences and outcomes for South Australians and supports broader system sustainability.
