Maddy Bower is a Lecturer in Indigenous Health at Flinders University’s Katherine campus, where she supports the education of health students through culturally safe, community-informed learning. A passionate advocate for Aboriginal health and culture, Maddy has extensive experience working alongside Aboriginal health services and community organisations across the Northern Territory.

Maddy is a Gudanji/Wambaya descendant and has lived in Katherine throughout her life, with strong family connections across the Northern Territory. Her work focuses on Aboriginal health, cultural safety, community engagement and two-way learning, with a strong emphasis on ensuring healthcare students understand the cultural and community contexts in which they will work.

She has contributed to research and education projects exploring culturally appropriate healthcare, traditional healing practices and remote health experiences. Maddy was also recognised with the 2019 Indigenous Allied Health Australia Award for Commitment to Indigenous Health.
