AI on a Shoestring: From Pain Points to Pilot Plans – Your 30-Day Blueprint for Aged Care Innovation
Every three minutes an older Australian in residential care suffers a fall; each injury-causing incident costs roughly A$2,500 and triggers pages of mandatory reporting. With the new rights-based Aged Care Act commencing 1 November 2025 and tougher Quality Standards on the horizon, providers must innovate fast, but on tight budgets.
This high-energy, interactive session turns AI cost and complexity myths on their head. We’ll start with a rapid snapshot of some pressing pain points – from safety and quality to staff burnout and digital-maturity; then using a live QR-code poll, attendees will vote for the three challenges that hit closest to home.
For each crowd-selected issue we will:

1. Show the art of the possible – a global example and its benefits (e.g. 0 new pressure injuries in six months).
2. Showcase a “shoestring” solution you can try yourself using free or open-source tools, whether for predictive analytics, a voice bot to manage meetings, or vision AI to detect patient falls and then mapping these quick wins into the 2025 Quality Standards.
3. Provide a risk & governance checklist covering consent, bias, and cyber safeguards, distilled from Department of Health guidance.
What you will take away
• New perspectives on what’s possible to achieve today, and a better appreciation of how AI can augment your business.
• A list of practical Aged Care AI use cases.
• A list of considerations aligned to the new Act and Quality Standards.
• Links to access more information on all the use cases

Who should attend
Boards, CEOs, CIOs, directors of nursing, clinicians and operational leads who want to start small, prove value quickly, and scale safely.
Come for the case studies, stay for the learning, and leave with ideas on what you need to launch your own low-cost AI pilot before the Act goes live.
