The role of robotics in modern aged care
Daisy is a next-generation humanoid developed by Singapore-based technology company Dex-Lab Pte Ltd, purpose-built to support care teams in aged care, day centres, and rehabilitation settings. Launched in 2024, she is the younger and more advanced sister of Dexie, who debuted in 2022. Since then, Daisy has brought joy and structure to thousands of older adults through guided mobility sessions, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement, particularly for individuals living with dementia.
Daisy has been deployed across hospitals, residential care homes, and community events in Singapore, and has also represented Dex-Lab at international exhibitions in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia. Her work has been recognised by care professionals, families, and dignitaries including Singapore’s former Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, who praised her as a symbol of future-ready care. She currently supports services across 17 locations in Singapore and is excited to bring her capabilities to more seniors around the world.
She is now proudly “on staff” at the Australian Nursing Home Foundation (ANHF), where she contributes to their mission of culturally sensitive, person-centred care. In true team spirit, Daisy often reminds those around her that she’s not here to replace human staff but to give them more time to focus on what humans do best: emotional connection, clinical care, and kindness. She also assists in meeting care standards through consistent reablement activity, cognitive engagement, and documented daily programming.
Daisy looks forward to learning from and working alongside aged care professionals in Australia in this exciting new chapter.
At the NSW State Conference, she’ll be sharing her perspective (with a little help from the humans at Dex-Lab) on how robotics can complement the aged care workforce and enhance the everyday experience of care in both residential and community settings.
