Beyond crisis: What Annecto’s wind down taught us about governance, systems and sustainability
Concurrent session D4 – Strength in stewardship: Governance that drives impact
Thursday 2 October 2025
12.15pm – 12.45pm
Precis
The voluntary administration of Annecto in 2025 sent ripples through the aged care and disability services sectors. While the circumstances were challenging, the experience has provided valuable insights into the importance of governance maturity, systems integration, and organisational resilience in mission-driven care businesses.
This case study presentation will explore the lessons learned from Annecto’s journey, with a forward-looking lens. It will unpack the key governance and operational vulnerabilities that contributed to the organisation’s distress, including fragmented CRM processes, gaps in staff and client communication channels, inconsistent service claiming processes, and limitations in data integrity and record keeping.
Importantly, the session will also highlight what aged care and disability service providers can do differently to strengthen risk oversight, enhance transparency, and build adaptive operations that are both person-centred and commercially sustainable. Attendees will gain practical reflections on how leadership teams, boards and executive decision-makers can improve organisational performance and prevent avoidable failure, ultimately safeguarding outcomes for clients, communities and the workforce.
