Sharon is a highly regarded Executive Cultural Navigator, Educator, and Trainer whose work champions equity, diversity, and systems change across sectors. Inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2020, and City of Joondalup’s Walk of Fame in 2023 for Cultural Leadership and various awards, Sharon has made a lasting impact on communities, sports, mental health, wellbeing, reconciliation, education.

As the Executive Cultural Navigation Lead Consultant, Sharon leads elite training programs that shift narratives and foster cultural understanding. She is the creator and facilitator of the groundbreaking ‘Perception Is OUR Truth’ Cultural Immersion Training, which has had possible influence across justice, health, business, education sectors, along with WA Police, corrections, and NGOs.

A proud Noongar Yamatji woman with family connections across WA, with many multicultural views and connections with her Irish, Scottish, English & Italian heritage.

Her expertise and executive consultancy extends across many roles such as:

  • Equity & Cultural Navigation Lead at SportWest, WA’s governing body for sports
  • Chair of the City of Joondalup Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
  • Founder /Chair & Executive Cultural Navigator of Djinda Bridiya Wellbeing Australian Aboriginal Corporation
  • Executive Officer of South West Kinships Cultural Immersion Tours, Leadership, Education & Training.
  • Presenter and Producer for 100.9fm radio as host for sports show “Issues in Community” Yorgas Yarning shows. Emcee and special events presenter om Media across WA
  • Artist, painting, community art projects, graphic designer of jumpers, prints, ties & scarves. Sports clubs and RAP work focusing on Storylines and serving on community panels for arts.

Precis

This panel explores the end-of-life journey with honesty, compassion and cultural sensitivity. Together, we’ll consider how to respect personal choices, honour cultural and spiritual traditions, and ensure dignity for the person who is dying. Just as importantly, we’ll discuss how families and loved ones can be supported through grief and loss, so that a good death becomes not only an individual experience, but a shared journey of care, respect and healing.

Home care is meant to support older Australians in the comfort of their own homes, but not all experiences are equal. This panel will explore culturally safe, inclusive approaches to care delivery, while highlighting the challenges faced by the workforce entering private homes, including discrimination and bias. Hear from our panel the challenges and opportunities to create a truly equitable home care system.
