Judy Mayfield has served as President of the Association of Residents of Queensland Retirement Villages for the past twelve years, leading the organisation through a period of significant sector reform, growth, and increasing consumer expectations. Her leadership is grounded in more than three decades of work in the community sector, including her previous role as CEO of an organisation providing supported accommodation for people with intellectual disability. Across all her roles, Judy has been driven by a commitment to education, empowerment, and improving quality of life for vulnerable and ageing Australians.

Having lived in a retirement village for fourteen years, Judy brings a rare combination of professional expertise and lived experience. She understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities of ageing in place, the dynamics of village life, and the importance of strong resident advocacy. Judy also navigates the system personally: she receives services through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), and her husband resides in a co‑located residential aged care facility. This dual perspective — as both a resident and a family carer — deeply informs her insights into service integration, consumer rights, and the realities facing older Queenslanders.

Judy holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology and a Master of Social Science. Her work with ARQRV continues to strengthen resident voices, promote fair and transparent village practices, and contribute to statewide conversations about ageing well, community connection, and the future of retirement living in Queensland.
