Beyond the PMO: Building Organisational Transformation Capability to Deliver Aged Care Reform
Organisations often invest heavily in change initiatives but struggle to sustain momentum once implementation is complete. This presentation shares the transformation journey of a regional Queensland homecare provider that recognised the need to strengthen its ability to deliver and sustain change whilst continuing to provide high-quality services to older Australians.
The presentation outlines a multi-year transformation program undertaken in partnership with Nous Group. Initial efforts focused on establishing a Program Management Office (PMO) to coordinate a complex portfolio of initiatives designed to improve customer engagement, strengthen organisational performance and prepare the organisation for sector reform. As the program matured, the focus shifted from project delivery to capability building, including the establishment of a Transformation Management Office (TMO), benefits realisation processes, transformation governance, performance reporting and workforce capability development.
The session will examine three critical challenges faced by many providers:
Presenters will share the practical approaches used to address these challenges, including the introduction of benefits management frameworks, initiative-level accountability, structured governance, risk and change management disciplines, leadership coaching and capability transfer. The presentation will also discuss the realities of implementing transformation in an operating environment characterised by workforce pressures, competing priorities and ongoing reform activity.
Attendees will leave with practical tools and lessons that can be applied immediately within their own organisations, including:
The presentation will be jointly delivered by the provider and Nous Group, providing both provider and advisory perspectives on what worked, what proved difficult, and what other organisations can learn from the experience. It will offer a practical roadmap for building transformation capability that lasts beyond the life of a single program and enables organisations to respond confidently to future reform.
