Katherine Burton was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Abound Communities in December 2023, bringing with her a strong background in health, aged care, and not-for-profit leadership. Prior to joining Abound, she held senior executive roles with Mercy Health and earlier leadership positions at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health, spanning operations, clinical services, and quality and safety. Her career reflects a deep understanding of complex health systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Beginning her career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Katherine combines clinical expertise with strategic capability, supported by qualifications in Medical Radiations and Business Administration. She also contributes to the sector through her roles on the Board of Rural Northwest Health and the Quality Committee of BreastScreen Victoria. Katherine is particularly passionate about building inclusive services and embedding strong consumer engagement, recognising these as critical drivers of better outcomes for individuals and communities.
